Abstract

The paper describes the working principle of the physical model GUNT HM 289, which represents the Pelton turbine experimental device done in the Laboratory for Hydraulic Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Rijeka. As part of the work on the physical model, four basic measurements were conducted: a) obtaining the changes of the incoming speed on the blades of a rotating wheel and torque depending on the variability of hydrodynamic pressure, b) determining the changes of the operating pressure depending on the variation of the incoming volume flow controlled by a needle valve, c) defining torque curves and d) determining the mechanical and hydraulic power and efficiency of the Pelton turbine depending on the variabilities of operating pressure and rotational speed.
